There's more to life than movies... I think

Batman vs. Superman

I was screwing around while I wrote an article called “Isn’t It Too Early for a Superman Restart?” and made a Superman poster based on the Dark Knight poster. Here was the resulting comparison. I personally think I did a pretty damn good job considering I have zero graphics design training. You can click it for a slightly larger version and here for the Superman poster alone.

Who is Barack Obama?

23/6 has the answer thanks to a condensed :60 second version of Fox News’ hour long report. Oh, and if you have an ad blocker you will have to turn it off or it won’t show up.

Tropical Storm Fay Takes a Man for a Ride

This is just plain scary!

The Moon Over Mt. Rainier

The two shots in this post were taken from my balcony tonight around 8 PM PST. I don’t exactly have a great digital camera, but I think they came out rather well.

McCain’s Camp Strikes Again

I don’t think I will ever understand how it feels to try and run for the highest office in the country and pull shit like this. This one is worse than the celebrity vid, but hopefully McCain’s target audience may be too stupid to figure out the satire.

This is One Way to Do Things… I Guess

This is one way to get the competitive juices flowing as Spain’s Olympic basketball teams have risked upsetting their Chinese hosts by posing for a pre-Games advert making slit-eyed gestures. The advert for a courier company, which is an official sponsor of the Spanish Basketball Federation, occupied a full page in the sports daily Marca, the country’s best-selling newspaper. Without Tiger Golf Doesn’t Matter

I cannot believe today is the final round of the PGA Championship and I didn’t know about it. To add to that I cannot believe almost a month ago was the British Open and I didn’t even bother to look who had won. Belated congrats Padraig. You see, I pay attention to every golf major every year, but it appears the absence of Tiger leaves me completely uninterested. I mean, does a golf tournament really matter if the best player in the world isn’t even competing?

Now, I liked golf before Tiger and I will like golf after Tiger, but in this era of Tiger Woods it doesn’t really count if he is on the sidelines in my opinion. Of course, it “counts”, but I would have to put an asterick next to it if I won as good as I would feel.

I mean, how will Sergio Garcia feel if he finally manages to win a major, but his nemesis wasn’t even playing?

Olympics Off to Great Start with Murder/Suicide

UPDATE: It turns out this tragedy involved Todd Bachman, the father-in-law of a U.S. Olympic coach, who was killed and his wife, Barbara, suffered life-threatening injuries in the knife attack, the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) said. The victims are the parents of 2004 volleyball Olympian Elisabeth “Wiz” Bachman McCutcheon, who is married to men’s volleyball coach Hugh McCutcheon.

It’s the first day of the Olympics and we already have an American tourist murdered! As it turns out, a relative of an Olympic U.S. men’s volleyball coach was murdered in an attack that left two others injured at the Drum Tower, a popular tourist site in the old city. The 47-year-old assailant promptly threw himself off the Drum Tower’s second story and killed himself, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

There is no telling if the coach in question was head coach Hugh McCutcheon or the assistant coach Ronald Larsen, or any of the other coaches traveling with the team.

There is an AP video after the jump.

Kerri Walsh Gives W. a First Day Eyeful

I thought this image was priceless as George W. gets an eyeful of Kerri Walsh on the first day of the Olympics. The complete gallery is right here with photos by Thomas Coex of Getty Images.

Oh, and here is an idea of what he’s looking at…
